When the Luminari started to foster the uncivilized races, they found one that stood out from the rest: humans. Despite having the shortest lifespan, early humans had a remarkable talent for retaining and utilizing knowledge. Before long, the Luminari left many to their own devices, watching them build new technologies and civilizations they could not imagine.

One of the first customs that surprised the Luminari was the tradition of Nobility. The idea that one rules through nepotism confused the Luminari, but humans quickly retorted with, “You wouldn’t understand, you live forever.” Most of the Luminari did not question the ideal of nobility further, though they remained curious.

After being fostered, civilized, and learned, it wasn’t long before humans invented “mortal war”. Kingdoms ripped apart kingdoms. Countries and regions came to blows over the most simplistic things. The other races now becoming civilized was abhored by what they saw (except the Dwarves, they thought it was fantastic). Humans had brought about some of the most violent conflicts ever seen, but through their diplomacy, they have been able to subvert even worse conflicts into peace.

Humans have an amazing adaptability, both in looks, mood, and reproduction. They are the only race so far known to be able to reproduce with other races successfully, and with most races the new child becomes a blend of traits from both parents. Most humans tend to have fair, tan, or dark skin, with a multitude of pastel hair and eye colors. Many can tell they have human lineage from the adoption of one or more of these physical features.

Humans love positions of authority, whether if it’s for a benevelent cause or… otherwise. Many humans with some sort of nobility become knights or part of an army, and every human adventurer believes it’s their duty to lead the group. Many races have joked that the only time a human doesn’t want to be seen is when they are lifting your coinpurse. Regardless of the rumors, humans are ambitious, so they believe in attaining the power as soon as they can so they can leave their mark on society.

Humans have a very positive outlook on life. They see Elves as staring in the past, the Dwarves sitting on their stone thrones in the present, the Halflings too busy with taking something from someone’s pocket, while the humans look towards the future. They regard Gnomes as little more as a hiccup in their timeline. But, it is up to the humans to forge the future, to unite under one banner in times of need, and to ensure the survival of both Lumia and it’s inhabitants.
